DAE Have any good tips about studying / ways to succeed in school.
I have heard the saying 'treat school like a job' and 'When you play, play hard; when you work, don't play at all' (Theodore Roosevelt). Now I have experienced it first hand. I used to do all my studying in my room. I liked it because it had everything at my finger tips. The problem was that I was always used to my room being my relaxation space where I never did work so I always found my self off task and procrastinating.
So this semester I tried something new. I found a space in our school library where I would study/work. It is amazing how much more efficient I am. When I would be at home I always feel like I want to start studying in 15min. I was always hitting snooze on studying. When I am here I sit down and am ready to work. Sometimes I will watch an episode of How I Met Your Mother but it is never more than two episodes. I cannot believe how much difference location makes in how I feel.
Also when I had picked this spot I noticed that it was colder up on this floor than the other so I tired to pick a spot that was the exact same only a floor down. Right when I sat down it didn't feel right. It makes me worry a bit when mid terms and finals come around and there are a lot more people here that I will have a harder time studying if I cannot find the right spot.
I feel like I am ready to attack the semester and have kept pretty straight with this semester's motto of 'treat school like a job'. I am coming to campus for my first class in the morning then staying till at least 6pm or my last goal for the day is done. The only downside is that even though I feel like I am working harder a few of my classes still seem to be kicking my ass.
TL;DR Have started studying in a location that is not my room and have found myself much less distracted.
