Thread: Stressful Gaming as a Temp Cure for Fevers?

360 Stressful Gaming as a Temp Cure for Fevers?

Seems to be so, at least for me.

For the last two days, I have had a fever over 102 degree F (don't ask me how much that is in Celcius...).

I have felt just horrible, with many muscle aches and chest pains.

Today, though, I mustered up the strength to play CoD4 on my 360.

Within minutes of playing online, I was pissed. A guy was hacking, and essentially flying around the map killing people.

But then I realized that I felt totally fine, that my fever had gone away. I was roasting and sweating, but hell, at least the damned fever was gone.

Then I stopped playing, and 30 minutes later, BAM! I had a fever again, body aches and all...

So, I went back to my 360 and continued to pwn noobs in CoD4, and I was fine again.

Thought this might be helpful during cold/flu season. xD

Your fever didn't just go away. Fevers fluctuate with the time (morning, evening), but I don't remember exactly how.

It's odd that playing video games would make you feel better as opposed to worse, you are concentrating and straining yourself watching the screen.

Same happens to me. When I am sick I play wc3 and feel better :]

That is probably one of the more ironic things I've heard about video gaming affecting health. Someone should do professional research on this...
I've been using text-based signatures since it was on vinyl.

A said a temp solution. I know the fever doesn't go away. But by playing the game, your body temperature increases due to a natural result of stress/anger.

When one has a fever, one typically feels quite cold. But because the body temperature rises with stressful gaming, you almost feel 100% normal.

The best way to get rid of a fever is to sleep with lots of blankets and when you wake up and you are sweating, It's gone (overnight or whatev)

I think the reason of this is because you notice the game more than your body, So you don't notice whats going on other than the game. That is my hypothesis for this one :D
