    Help Computer Problems

So I took my computer over to yomamma's house (which he is never on the forms but thier is a good pic of him pissing his pants) and Hasslehoff looked at my sound card. When I got home. I got everything hooked in and turned it on. They fan is really loud, which has never happened. And thier is no signal. ??? I have a GeForce 7900GS OC . I don't know if its something in my computer or video card. I am lost on this one. I had jball look at it, and he couldn't find anything.

Here's a few things you can try:

    1. Take out the graphics card and put it back in.
    2. Take out the Sound card and put it back in.
    3. Take out the ram and put it back in.

Of course do this while the PC is off....

Once you try that post back.

I know this is pretty obvious....

No signal to the monitor? make sure the lead from the monitor is plugged into the video card and NOT the socket from your mobo (if you have integrated gfx). Caught me once for about 5 mins

It wouldn't just start doing that out of the blue.

If he has integrated graphics ITS A MUST to disable it before using a videocard.

You can assume thats already been done because he was using the system before. I was just saying it can be easy to make a mistake plugging it all back in when you are not thinking, i know cos i've done it

Theres a possibility that they reset his CMOS or bios settings when trying to fix his PC...

True. I really wouldn't know. I have never owned a PC with on board graphics so meh.

yea, i have used this graphics card a while now to play bf2, bf2142, CS, Garry's Mod, ect. but this is something that has happened. I re-seaded both of them and nothing. I am kinda lost on this one.

OK, let me add a bit to this. When sandball said he was having problems I made sure the sound card was seated, removed the video card and reseated it. I tried both monitor plugs on the card, no video signal. Then I even tried the on board video monitor plug no video signal. So now I am a bit stuck on what to do next. I left a voicemail for a friend but he hasn't had a chance to call me back yet. I have never had this happen before in all my years with PC's and building PC's so I starting to wonder if the video card went bad because he says he had trouble a couple of times with the video not coming on before this and would have to restart the computer again. I think today I will enable the on board video and see if that works I guess that would tell me if it is the video card.

Do you guys have any other videocards to test in that slot? it could be a bad mobo too.

Well the only way to tell is to swap the parts out 1 by 1 into another system. It could be loads of things. Does the vid card require power other than thru the PCIe? If so perhaps the PSU has shat itself and not giving stable power thru the 6 pin connector to the card. This kind of scenario is a nightmare unless you have spare parts laying around to test by trial and error

Well I called BFG tech support and told them what was going on and they said it sounds like the RAM went bad on the video card and are going to just warranty replace it.
