This is just like having a BF2 server. If you have one that always has at least a couple people on, there will always be more people joining. If you have like one person on who doesn't say anything, that's bogus and no one will be on. That's what killed it last time.

On that note, I think we should have some kind of points system. Take a look at dreamincode.net (its called kudos) This point system would be somewhat like Rep but only staff members could give it.
Those who contribute to the forums or on IRC get points. The points are nothing more than some numbers.

Not everyone has a mic and sometimes you don't really want to hear the sound of other men on a crappy codec. Also, you can't have many people talking at the same time and you can much easily better multi-task with irc.

I was just using it as an example, I mean even the people who voted yes might use it once or twice but i guarantee theyd go on it once in a while and it would be empty so they'd leave and after a week of it being up it would hardly be used. Forum chat rooms are almost never actually active i know this from experience. But how would it make a difference what's the point?

Then you must have done something wrong. You can send/receive files but you have to accept them, unless you had changed your settings or something. Operators of channels and servers can't send and open anything through a room.
