nope, with the compatibility mode, almost everything should work. Just install on a 2nd partition to be safe

Don't count on the compatibility thing working, because most of the time it doesn't. Here is what i did.
1. Resize your windows XP partition with Gparted (G Partition Editor live).
2. Install Vista on a different partition.
3. Dual boot settings will automatically be created during vista setup as long as you install vista after XP
but can i install the 2 os's on one hardrive?

Yes. I had 3 different installs on XP on mine at one time. When u boot it gives u a choice. Just make sure you install it on the right partition so you dont erase your old **** by accident.
spart or macaih can u make a tutorial on how to do that because its gonna be the first time i do so and i dont wanna screw up

I always make 2-3 seperate partitions when I install windows unless im in a mega hurry. It makes everything so easy if i get a serious error that is unfixable and requires a reinstall.

you pop in your winxp disk, run it and when it goes to the partition section, do create new.
