So i just reformatted a couple weeks ago, fresh xp pro install etc....

Im not sure when it started, but any normal task such as installing a game, virus scan, unzipping something, transfering files, takes up all my cpu usage and owns my computer.

So..i checked all my processes, tweaked a few windows settings to see if i could fix it...and nothing. Anyone know of any not so obvious fixes? I've tried alot of shit so far and still its horrible. Games cant even play smooth at all either.

amd 64 3400+
2gb ram
xp pro sp2
6800gt (newest drivers)
MSI motherboard (was never the problem before)
onboard audio / Lan

Download these following programs:

AusLogic Disk Defrag
CCleaner
ProcessExplorer

Defrag computer. Post results.
Run CCleaner. Tell us how many MB were removed. Then go under StartUp on CCleaner and tell me what is there.
Run ProcessExplorer. Screenshot the application (all of processes). Upload to ImageShack. Post image here.
Wait for UgLy-NeRd to respond!

Are you unzipping or unrarring? Unrarring truley takes a lot of CPU power.

i'll fill you in more when i get home. But ya, unrar'ing. I understand some takes more then others, but not like this. My mouse cursor even freezes up, but if i move my mouse i can highlight other things...hard to explain.
