So I was bored and trying to think of something I could make this weekend as I'm going to be at home.

I'm thinking that I'm going to make a homemade flash drive. I have all the components sitting around at home. I just need some ideas on special features i should have

I think doing anything other features than storing information on it would be incredibly complicated.

you can create the basic building blocks for a simple customized Flash video application to developing a full-on television station type of environment, complete with error handling and status messaging, playlists, ad insertion and many other bells and whistles according to your requirement.

Sweet LED status lights like those on Crucial Ballistix Ram. If they weren't so failure prone I'd use then instead of Mushkin.

One guy stressing them with prime95:

And this guy with his 12gb in normal usage.

Jump to about 1min in.
