The video has some interesting things in it said by Gabe, but a few things really caught my attention. Most particularly, is Gabe 'promising' more weapons, special infected, characters, maps, and the like for L4D2. Sound familiar? This video has affirmed my actions by NOT pre-ordering and having no plans for purchasing the game until later if ever.
Now, the only thing that will get me to buy L4D2 will be when Valve adds in at least one, maybe two big updates, such as the things Gabe mentions in the video. New characters? Don't give a shit. New maps? Still don't give a shit. New weapons and new special infected? It's a start.
The main thing that has my attention, is how Valve deals with custom maps. I can't believe you have to actually download it off of a website rather than off the game like, well, every game I have ever played in my life. What is this, 1995? But really, support for modders and new special infected are the only things that I care about for L4D2 right now. I don't see Valve ever doing anything the promise for the L4D series ever now, but I certainly hope they can prove me wrong.

Yea, like we have time to sit in a lobby and download a 150mb map? That'd go real well. yes the steam back end is rather fast, but they could probably use those resources to keep their dedicated game servers up (cause they are slow as shit sometimes). not a bad idea on their part by having 3rd party sites host the content for their game i must say.
They put in new guns, new maps, yes, it should have been more of an expansion or a DLC rather than a sequel. prob not worth $50 in my opinion, but i cant think of a game that is worth $50 or one that i get my money's worth out of. but whats stopping them from doing anything? you dont have to buy it, you dont have to play it either.

Lots of games have had maps around 100mb's, it's not like it will melt faces off. If it takes forever, then the person can go and download it themselves and play it later.
You may not get your moneys worth for a game, but I often do. Killing floor, League of Legends, Team Fortress 2, and maybe L4D (that's debatable though, imo). Those are just a few I can think of off my head.
No, I don't have to buy it (although I could still play it), but Valve wants me to buy it, I'm a potential customer. They want my money and I'm expressing my opinions on what would get me to buy their game. It's just that tons of people's bitching has made that look like a bad thing over the years.

what do you even want from them? they put in the realism mode just for you, and if that isnt enough, i have no idea what you could want.
just sounds like someone is jealous that they didnt get flown out to valve HQ and got to see the shit. that or you want gabe Newell to come visit you at your house. ♥♥♥.

It's debatable that L4D was worth your money? I think you're just being arrogant now... You need to jump off the boycott bandwagon because it's not cool anymore. I don't see how you could say that TF2 is definitely worth your money, but L4D isn't. You used to be obsessed about L4D.

Killing Floor is better anyway, just added on FREE new content and 2 optional character packs (4 characters each) priced at a measly $2 each. New content included several weapons, that I wonder if L4D2 has taken off of. I noticed the Katana in the footage above, also in KF. AK47, also in KF now seen in L4D2. The chainsaw, a KF original (well, as far as the FPS zombie genre marketed game goes) now in L4D2. The M79 grenade launcher, in KF now seen in the L4D2 trailer/teaser, not to mention KF added on the firepower with the six-shot M32 grenade launcher. KF: the ability to host up to six players on a regular server and over 30 on some. KF: only $20 :). KF: No matchmaking :). KF: Upgradable (in levels w/ certain types of XP depending on what you kill with and help with) perks system :).
I'll buy L4D or L4D2 only when another uber weekend discount comes about. Only then would they (or one or the other) be worth it.

If you find 3 friends, you can buy the 4 pack and buy it for only $34...

When we can buy it for 20? After we know whether the game is dead like its predecessor or not is the right time to buy.

I know, thats why I said it was debatable. Shit dude, cant you see how shitty of a job Valve did with L4D as a whole!? The game shouldnt have been sold for $50, I feel like a fool for arguing against people who said the game should be sold for $30. I dont see why Valve cant do what Tripwire did with Killing Floor and release L4D2 for free as an addon. Want to make money? There you go valve.
I played L4D a lot, but only for about 3 months. Ive had TF2 for years and I STILL play it.
Valve PROMISED 4x4 matchmaking last fucking year, and then delayed it, then delayed it, and then delayed it some more. Have we heard anything about it in the last 3 months? No. That is fucking pathetic.
It just pisses me off that I was so hyped up for L4D to be such a fucking sick game that would keep my occupied for hopefully years like some games do. Yet Valve fucked it over and decided to not update the game much. There are still dozens of bugs in the game. Its just pathetic.
