stupid that its only for people that bought the game.
demos are usually there to help people decide on whether or not to buy it. i wish i could play so i could decide.

its not like you wont be able to play the demo eventually, giving it to the people that pre-ordered it is just one of the perks steam is able to give.

The demo is out 3 weeks prior to release of the game for pre-purchasers, and 2 weeks prior to those who don't buy it.

I preloaded the demo on the PC, and just played the demo on the 360, available to all Gold members.
I think it puts a nice twist on an old game. A full new game? Maybe. I would've rather have had it as like a $25-$30 expansion. Some of the new weapons are cool, melee are fun, the huge katana makes a LOT of blood. I think the boomer and the hunter could've been reinvented, but the new infected are interesting. The Jockey basically tries to get you away from everyone and into a crowd of infected, and the charger comes out of nowhere and butt fucks you.
I'll probably get it as a Christmas gift or during a big sale.

The demo is fun, but I'm not a huge fan of the melee weapons and some other the other weapons.
I love variety in weapons, I LOVE variety and having choices. However, the downside to having so many weapon choices is that some will outshine others, thus resulting in people using only the superior weapons; thus resulting in less variety than originally.
Then melee weapons. Fun and all, but holy shit does it make the game incredibly easy! No skill, no aiming, just click away and you are an unstoppable killing machine. I can guarantee you that a melee fatigue, just like the one currently for pushing melee, will be implemented for these new weapons.
I really like the all the new weapons and the new trigger event. Everything is nice so far, still not enough for me to buy it yet.

Did you try the melee weapons on expert? They do take skill on expert.

Yup, was no different. All it required was a little extra steps to my dancing.

I'm sure the melee weapons will get nerfed prior to the release.

Looking back at how Valve treated L4D, I doubt it. A man can dream though...
