I got a sample pack of 5 of these to test on my Xbox 360. I burned Fallout 3 at 8x and it took 12 minutes total to burn. The game works flawlessly. FTI FalconMedia is a very good brand. I've been using Verbatim for my 360, but $26 a spindle is too much. I tested the disc on a LiteOn drive. I haven't tested them on any other drives, yet. This is actually a pretty good deal. I'll let you guys know if any of mine coast.
Edit:
I just ordered another 20 pack spindle. I hope none of them coast... They use RICOHJPN D01 dye, which supposedly ain't to hot. I guess I won't be losing a whole lot of money in the end. They're $10 cheaper.
Edit:
3 discs at 8x no coasts.

Is there a simple way to mod a 360? I'm afraid to try it.

it doesn't get any simpler. It's already simple. You don't even have to solder anything which makes it super easy.

Dependant on what drive you have/what method you use.
I modded mine a month or so ago. It's great and fairly simple to do with tutorials. Only burned 2 games though, Godfather 2 and Batman Arkham Asylum. I like to buy the games I'm really looking forward to, MW2, AC2. And if anything ever happens to this Xbox, I have another :).

My fear is this: I can't afford another one! And can you still go on XBL with a modded xbox?

As long as you stealth your games, basically double checking to make sure they match the retail copies, and make sure you have the latest firmware. It's easy.

It's easy. You just need to learn it, first.
Also, I gave my friend one of these discs to try on his BenQ. It failed. His BenQ drive is very poor. It has some major laser issues, but reads Verbatims. I canceled one of my spindles of 20 because of this. The other spindle I have on order I'll give to my brother since he has a LiteOn which is capable of reading these.
Here's a quote from FTI Falcon in an email I sent them:
Hi *******,
The difference between the Falcon and Verbatim DL is the manufacturing
process - Verbatim uses a method called the 2P process which is a more
involved and expensive process for manufacturing the DL discs.
Verbatim DL discs are the best in the industry due to the method of
manufacturing. Many folks have found with their hardware that the Falcon
discs perform quite well and they definitely like our pricing. If my samples
worked for you, then you should have some good results when you receive the
cakebox you purchased from SuperMediaStore.
Best Regards,
