So there's this group @ ISU called Critical Tinkers, and one of our project ideas is an online turret. I told them that I have the code & hardware for online LED's, and that it would be really use to use my "Control LED's in my Room via Internet" project as a template. We'd only have to add some servos & a firing mechanism. I'll keep you guys updated with more info as the project continues.

Here's an image of the preliminary concept design. Don't know if we're going to work on this or not.

how about the firing mechanism from an electric powered airsoft rifle or paintball gun/marker?

Can you provide me with some links? How much power and voltage do they consume?

most electric paintball guns utilize a 9v battery or a rechargeable lithium-ion battery as a substitute, which I think electric airsoft guns might be the same way, but are more than likely rechargeable but vary in size depending on the size of the gun.
Here's a full auto/semi auto model for not too bad a price and battery specs are listed (forget about the paintball gun, it'd be pretty over budget for an electric one):

I have a broken foam rocket cannon that used to be controlled via USB, I wonder if I can fix it and control it with my Arduino...
