Here they come!

Today, we got word that Fry’s has begun to sell (http://www.frys.com/product/5981624?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG) Intel Lynnfield Core i5 750’s and has them both in stores as well as available online. If you take a look, you can see that they are being sold for $205 and the specifications match those of the product specs Intel has on file. A source indicated that while these processors were in stock at the time, they were not in the system and that they currently did not have any P55 boards to accompany the processors.

More about the processors and screenshots here...

Never heard of that store and I'm pretty sure I don't have one any where near me. Why is this big news?

Never heard of that store and I'm pretty sure I don't have one any where near me. Why is this big news?

1. They arent tecnically supposed to be available
2. These are brand new chips that are targeted towards the mainstream
3. They're affordable and almost as fast as an i7, in most cases just as fast or faster.

Also, if you've never heard of Fry's you must give me your computer enthusiast card. Anyone who knows anything about computers knows about Fry's :fp:

Okay, but,

1. Didn't know.
2. Didn't know.
3. I don't really know cpu's well from their names like i7 and such.

I don't know how you'd consider a computer enthusiast, I think I am. However, I don't keep up to date with hardware or know every little thing to know.

The only time I really read hardware specs, is when I'm buying a new piece for my desktop. That's when I sort of catch up to the latest stuff.

When I first saw this thread, I thought it was about Fry from Futurama. As you can tell, never heard of Fry's before.

Think of Fry's as a 5 Star hotel in Las Vegas such as the Belagio or the MGM Grand or even the Paris Hotel.

It's beautiful inside and out, it also has a buttload of electronics inside, like a Costco but for men.

Basically. Its like having newegg but as a store. Each store is no less than 100,000 square feet.

Sounds really nice, but I don't know if they'd be able to compete with newegg for prices.

There only on the coasts and on the east only in New England, you won't be seeing them in the Midwest or in non highly populated areas.

They're quite expensive, too much to compete with Tigerdirect.com or Newegg.com.

Yeah, maybe thats because they have to pay rent and they have to pay to have people on the floor. You have to factor that in. But they're still good to have when bestbuy is the only other b&m left.
