This little project enabled me to toggle a 110V AC appliance on and off… Over the internet!

Here is a little diagram that I created for novices to understand.

The relay that I used was Digikey part number 365-1484-ND. There are probably better relays that don’t even need the 3V DC or the transistor, though this one worked fine and I had everything needed to make it work. Once you have the circuit completed, this site can help in the software part of it: http://www.epanorama.net/circuits/parallel_output.html#webcontrol

That software worked fine for me on my Windows XP Pro server.

Here is a picture of my “Finished Product”:

Enjoy!

Hey Benjgvps.
I am Fraserstaple and I read your entire posting. Thanks for posting here this new innovation. It has main advantage that it will run on Windows XP Pro server. There are probably better relays that don’t even need the 3V DC or the transistor, though this one worked fine and I had everything needed to make it work. Once you have the circuit completed, this site can help you. Thanking You.
