Use FlashGet (www.flashget.com) and the extension FlashGot for firefox.

When you click on the download, dont click save to disk, click the radio button for FlahGot, then when FlashGet comes up copy the link from the URL textbox. And theres your direct link...

wait, are you saying this circumnavigates the rapidshare bullshit, or just a way of downloading after the download is ready?
i'm confused...

No, it just grabs the direct link from rapidshare, you still have to wait your time, and it still will take the file size away from your IP.

FlashGot isnt made for getting the direct link to a rapidshare file. It is actually made to launch FlashGet and automatically start the download, instead of using FireFox's download manger. FlashGet is a great download manager and downloads big files 10x faster than FireFox would.

i use the free download manager, it does just about all the other payfor apps do.
http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/

it does lock up sometimes, but i think it is my fault when it happens due to an overload of requests.

Firefox downloader shouldn't have anything to do with DL speed.. The RS DL speed cap might, along with the cap your ISP puts on your connection.

I'd be surprised to see proof that firefox caps your DL speed, but I've never heard it before so I'm in no place to say you're wrong..

But it doesn't make much sense to me....

Try downloading a 4.0gb file with FireFox, then try downloading it with FlashGet, you will save ALOT of time. I'm sure alot of people would agree with me, not to mention, you can resume downloads with FlashGet. And I think FlashGet has a different way of downloading, but I'm not positive.
