So I was glancing through the suggestions offered in this sub-forum and I noticed a handful of people wanted a "serious forum" for...

a place where people can go to ask serious questions about life and anything else they have on their mind. No flaming, reduced ratings to "Thanks, Informative, Agree, Gold Star", and serious debate or responses only.

debate about serious subjects in a serious way.

Would help exercise our cranium:emot-eng101:.

Would you think?

call it debate area and reduce the ratings to agree, disagree, thanks and gold star.

Difficult concept imo. If you create this does this deem all else as "non-serious"...how do you define serious?.....Far too problematic and not necessary

i think it'd have to have it's own mod. it'd have to be assumed that posts that are just people flaming or trolls or whatev's will just get deleted to maintain the seriousness of the forum. i almost created a website for serious discussion, but never went through with it.

this is a huge bump. but i was thinking about this the other day. would anyone be interesting in making a forum for serious discussion? (politics, philosophy, morals, and other ideals?) i almost made a website like 6 months ago but didn't have the motivation. now that i'm at college, i actually have alot of free time, and possibly more motivation.
(not stealing david's idea necessarily, but he's busy with his own project atm.)
if your'e interested PM me and we'll work on something.

It would remove some of the clutter that arises when people do want to post serious discussions (they usually end up going in vip general)

But it would also allow people to receive advice or support from fellow zomg members. We should have a post anonymous option that allows users to post in secret if they do not want people to know about whatever it is they have come to post, but still want help with it (granted, admins should be able to see who posts to save us from srs abuse)

I was just thinking about this, maybe it could be a good idea.

Here's the idea I had, the author could potentially mark a thread as anonymous, which means the thread start & all replies would be anonymous. So if the issue at hand was perhaps embarrassing for the OP, he could make it all anonymous.

although a good idea. that's just asking for spam possibly. i could see possibly different usernames, like in code or something. (idk where i'm going with that.)

Well admins (and admins only - no mods) would have some sort of ability to track it back, but it wouldn't be easily accessible, something we'd have to do manually in the database.

That would be long and annoying to write... I like the idea but I dont see it fit for ZS. There are many other websites for people to post for serious help, we really help in technology/internet stuff but other than that most of what I see here is people just messing around or posting funny things...

This is a good idea and should be banked on. Aka we should do it!

Where else would I post about "touchy" matters..lol. there was no touching involved.
