This is not bogus before any of you say anything. Straight from Intel and even a Pic of an i7 board with a disclaimer over the ram slots.
WE GOT WORD that Intel is advising mobo-makers and memory vendors alike about their new X58+Core i7 combo and to abide to a strict 1.65V limit on memory voltages, beyond which there is the risk of burning out the CPU.
The info first tipped up on the XFastest forums where the admin posted several photos of an Asus P6T Deluxe (retail-packed) mobo including one of a big sticker over the DIMM slots motherboard warning that anything over 1.65V will fry the CPU.
Follow-up From Asus: Asus called us back and confirmed the limitation on the RAM voltages. They are currently running a 1.7V kit in their UK office, but beyond that, you're on your own.

No word form Intel explaining why this warning is given yet. Apparently the fact it's Intel's first shot at an Integrated Memory Controller (IMC) may be to blame. At least that's the buzz right now. I will update this thread as I find more. This is VERY bad for overclockers and even to DIE HARD Intel fans i7 appears to be getting less and less appealing every week. Many are saying they will go with AMD's Shanghai. In fact I have a news story on that as well. That's next!
