I say maybe make it into a "serious discussion" forum with subforums like that, but also politics, etc.

No, not a mindfuck forum. I like Morgan's idea:

Maybe a forum in the General category titled "Serious Discussion" or something like that. Then there would be sub forums such as "Debate" "Science" "Politics" "Culture" "Mathematics" "Puzzles" etc.
