Should be get rid of VIP? I think so, it's not so active recently and it's setting too many groups / cliques.

For example, if someone joins, and every other person has a blue name they would probably get intimidated and not come back.

The only really big change is that we would not allow warez and be very careful with hacking-material.

What do you say? VIP isn't so kicking now anyway.

I say no people can earn VIP not that hard. Otherwise people can just come, get what they wanted and never visit again.

I would prefer a purge. Most everyone who posts on this forum is VIP or higher and make up the majority of posts.

Actually getting rid of it would of made me quite prolly.. The fact is I KNEW you had w***z in the VIP section so I wanted to work towards it.. Not go away from it.

Exactly, I didn't say anything about 1337 not being able to. I'll probably wind up just moving the w***z as a sub-category of 1337.

If I do get rid of VIP, however, I will promote 2-4 VIP's to 1337.

Good Point. But if we have very few 1337 members then my uploads posted in 1337 wouldn't get very much traffic.

That's what I was saying everyone wants to know what's in VIP but still some people get tired of waiting. Maybe we can make more specific rules about becoming vip so that we will know that the people aren't just leachers. Maybe we can think of a good requirement.

If you are worried about intimidation...Just make VIP less visible. It doesnt have to be blue, it could be the same colour as registered. Remove all banners referring to the groups. Perhaps you could have a banner at the bottom with only the members of your group listed instead

I say after ten posts give the person vip. That way the vip stuff can stay and people cant access it by just joining. They have to post.
Good point but don't tell them they need 10 posts just make sure they aren't leachers and that way they don't get tired of trying and leave the forum.
I strongly agree with the idea.

This isn't really a poll you can fairly put up.

All the VIP members are going to vote to keep it because they are VIP and like their status, regardless of what material the sections contain.

I think it should be decided upon the administrators and moderators and let the VIP have a say in it, giving a good reason to keep it.

I don't know I'm very even on this but I voted no... I like VIP but I think it needs to be taken away from a person if they are not active for a week unless they have notified somebody about them not being here. And when/if they return they could re earn it.

The people who would have a problem with warez is the hosting company. If they check on the site and dont' see anything wrong they aren't going to do anything. Their not going to register either, their not that smart.

I'd have to read BlueHost's policy about warez and illegal content, if it is "you can't HOST them" then I wouldn't be oppose to making a warez section to everyone and making it so you have to register and log in to view that section.

So therefore donators should logically all be elite. (I hate that old fucking leetspeak, I think it is utterly silly)

There is no Elite status, Its fucking 1337 not Elite.

I was following through with the general drift of the thread, which concerns VIP status, and consequently status in general. I don't really have any big issue on what various classes are actually called. Also other related side topics have arisen, in particular that of warez.

The main point of my original post is that on this I basically agree with Spart.
It's a clean way to implement the suggested ideas. People will then get whatever status based on current activity. It's some degree of hassle I know, but not THAT much.

Idk because that means we automatically lose VIP Cuz everyone above us PRACTICALLY wants VIP gone... and plus I remember when I first joined I worked as hard as I could to get VIP because I knew it was better then registered... if people leave the forum cause they want to be treated equally then in my book they can GTFO and stay out.
Never ever say that i learned from experience saying they can GTFO and stay out isnt a good thing to say. Dave got pissed at me because of it once :P. I agree with plaz on this i think VIP should be locked down and pruned alot because we DO have alot of people in VIP and im not even sure if they all deserve it anymore.

There's a lot of quality stuff in VIP that we can't put in the normal section. Not just warez. We can put personal opinions and stories in VIP without worrying that someone who's not supposed to will see them.

Well it should not be that members loose priviledges when they have done nothing to deserve this. OTH I don't think that was the idea.
As far as I do understand it, the idea seems to be that whatever you call the priviledged class, it's members would be those who are either most active users, or those who can otherwise make some special contribution.
Further to this it seems that what management are saying in general is that members of the 'higher classes' need to be re-assessed, and the way to do this is by members making fresh contributions that prove their merit.

I can quite see why so many of the current VIPs are scared of being re-assessed. It's because all they do is post whinges of some sort or another. IMO it is perfectly OK to make suggestions or criticisms. But stuff along the lines of 'Yah-Boo xxxxx user sux and I am a the real 1337' is pretty damn pathetic.

Personally I am confident that I can make good future contributions no matter what anybody else thinks.
