I know this is something I keep brining up, but what could we do to improve the site?
All ideas will be considered.
Thanks.

We need to make it so you have register to view certain hidden content like links to things and such. And copyright all the finds we get(Not sure about how to do that one)
go around your town and spray paint the website url?
I'm getting into that, might tag up the site sometime in the future.

Then we'll be getting registrations like "OfficerGuy111" and whatnot. Then again they won't know who did it.
Who sprayed grafitti that says "www.zomgstuff.net"?
I don't know Mr. Officer *deletes post somewhere*

There ISNT jack shit to do to gain activity but digg stuff. You obviously havent fucking realized that contests DONT HELP THE FORUM AT ALL. No one participates in them but 1 or 2 people. It's a waste of fucking time, just as the forum is becoming.

ZOMG is busier than ever. It used to be that I'd get on every day and there'd be 10-20 new posts. Now there are frequently over 150 new posts EVERY DAY. Don't start telling me that contests are a waste of time. They might not generate traffic but they do help build and strengthen the community.

They don't help? At least they're better than NO post. Problem is too many people have your mind set, if everything isn't laid in my lap I refuse to do the work. You of all people, an admin, should be willing to put more effort.
It's been fairly obvious that you've been going through a big change in the past couple of months. And quite frankly, not a change that I like. You have gotten a lot cockier and you seem to think you are god and you are always right. Example: today you were saying my skills in Halo 3 suck and that I suck in general. You had never played with me online before and you had nothing to base that off. When we played, I doubled your score. You like to jump to conclusions and think your opinions are always right. I'm hoping that is some temporary thing that you're going through, if not then I can only really say one thing. "A fucking waste of time" - if that's how you feel, and aren't willing to put in the effort, then please resign yourself(NOT DELETE) from admin and I will surely find someone else that would be more than happy to take the job.

This topic has arisen in various forms frequently, and there is this whole subtopic for suggestions. One small thing that would help IMO is if this suggestions topic be moved so that it is more visible. I think it should be a separate section of the front panel; As a subsection of 'General' it gets overlooked. More importantly however is that people. including myself, have responded with ideas, and the usual outcome seems to be that they are not really considered, (as far as one can tell). It would help if management (and people generally), commented on ideas, and if they are not acceptable explain why. It is better to have an idea positively rejected than ignored.
Also I am going to back up Perky 100%, not just because she gave me a bit of support, but because she is right. The amount of bickering and general sniping at Zomg is totally out of hand, and not just in Admin, though that is more noticeable. I have also mentioned other very obvious problems previously, and you know damn well what I mean. It is the flamers, whingers, and abusers that should be targeted for a spell in the slammer.
Competitions are always are good idea, but I don't think they stimulate new traffic much. I think there could be other internal games as well.

1v1 me then, TS score doesnt mean shit, skilz always doubles my score (if not triple) and i lost 14-15. Also, you didn't double my score, I had 10 and you had 16. Also, our KDR was exactly the same. I remember that game too, it was the one we played before skilz kicked you so we could double team (which I went +10 and skilz went +5). I had a running riot. I don't want to hear it. Also, I remember a while back when I put all my effort into the forum as you sat around and did nothing, just appreciating what I was doing. How about, this is my chance (without a whole lot of appreciation). If you want to remove my administration rights, go ahead.

He is unbanned, he just doesn't visit.
Actually skilz is cocky, I highly doubt any decision to let him "fully" return. Honestly, I question if he's just playing "suck up."
As for traffic, we really need more affiliates - we only have a couple. I think its one of the best ways to get tons of referrals.

oh.
ok, im not changing my attitude. i'm just giving my opinion. i'll make sure my opinions aren't so disrespectful for now on, but look, as much as i would like the forum to become more popular, i feel the approaches we (you?) are taking aren't helping, and yes, i know you try. i don't want to hear "atleast im trying" because i'm not going to try and do something that isn't going to help gain activity (such as a contest). you know if i ever came across something that would be useful to the forum i would do it. i just feel you are shunning me because i am "sitting back" and not doing anything, where there isn't really a whole lot to do to promote activity. it's just something that comes and goes, an opportunity, which we haven't found yet.

yeah he is REALLY cocky, but still cool (for the most part). even if you beat him he's still cocky. he's still rather funny.
(i know you and him don't get along that well on xbl, atleast it doesnt look that way)
We never had the ratings system fixed either.....but it seems people have become more relaxed with it, and there seems to be less abuses. I recommend wiping the ratings, and starting over with the same system we are using.
As I will continue to stress, regardless of if some view us as just a "community for everything", a forum with a more focused view will be more likely to succeed than one without a real purpose in the long run.

Well what do you suggest our central focus be? Just look at facepunch, they are mainly a Gary's Mod 10 forum, but the non-gmod section of the forum is far more popular, and many members don't even have gmod!

It was not an attack on the forums, it was constructive criticism. I AM trying to help us out here. The problem with starting out on all bases is how to get onto one base without pissing the others off.

I know, I think you're taking what I said the wrong way. I agree, but I was just showing an example how some forums do have a concrete central focus but also thrive off miscellaneous things.

Tis the problem with internet....
I think zomg could use another facelift...again.
Maybe just a re-titling of the forums and sub-forums to signify the end to VIP and the "start" of a new zomg.

He are some observations:
More than a few members feel that admins don't really listen to their ideas or comments in general. Admins often appear to act in their own interests and not necessarily in those that benefit the forum. New members can get shot down in flames pretty easily for "not conforming" to the "ideals" of more senior members. These are minor points really but they are off putting to new members and will probably drive some away (at the least they do not encourage people).
Even in this thread there are examples of this:
Perky mentioned the bickering between admins and yet 2 posts later we get. The "i'm better than you at Halo" banter. Its off topic, petty chidish crap and this is from the 2 most senior guys here.
TBH i quite enjoy the mildly immature goings on in this community. Obviously other people don't. One of the problems is that the "ideal" members for this forum are young, hacker, exploiter types who like pranking and general tom foolery. If people don't fit the bill they get hounded. To increase traffic more quickly you need to accommodate a more diverse user base. This is a compromise that the Hoff may not want to make, but thats OK more patience is required then.
There is not enough consistency here. One minute its all about professionalism the next its "u sux!! haxorz is boss". The admins often break their own rules be it spam, off topic or whatever.
Sorry to be a bit doom and gloom. This site makes my day at work so much better and for that I applaud you. Try not to over analyze everything and continue with fun and the community will build with time

I agree with O2zi3 (http://www.zomgstuff.net/forum/member.php?u=1544) who has made a thoughtful analysis.
I don't see that there need be any ideal sort of member though.
There could be different groupings each with some common interest, and these would overlap.
